Where I Want to Be

I had the afternoon off on Friday, so Cohen and I got to spend the day together.  We went to the park, went on a bike ride and just hung out.  Cohen loves being outside, so I try to get him out as much as I can.  I don't think his little legs stopped moving once while we were at the park and he walked all the way there and back!  He did want to stop and pick up every leaf he saw along the way, but we got there eventually :)  I think his favorite thing to do at the park is the teeter totter.  He isn't big enough to do it himself, so DJ or I have to make him bounce.  Once he starts, it's hard to get him to stop :)

Look at that belly..

Do you think I can climb this Mom?

On the teeter totter

Weeee!!

We had a really fun afternoon.  I tried to soak it in as much as I could.  I don't get days like that very often.  There's always something going on, someone to see, somewhere to go...You have to make sure you stop every once and awhile and smell the roses :)

We Survived!

It was a teary departure Saturday morning, but once I was in the car and moving I settled down.  The morning didn't go quite as planned.  Any other morning Cohen would have been up at 7, but since I didn't set my alarm clock and needed to be up at 7, he decided to wake up after 8 : )  We had to rush to the grocery store so we had some food for Maw Maw and the peanut.  I wanted to have a relaxed morning and spend some time with Cohen before I had to leave, but I didn't really get to do that.  I was an hour late getting out of the house.  I didn't care so much about being late, but I wished I could have played with Mo some more.

I laid Cohen down for a nap right before I took off and Mom reassured me that he would be fine and that I should have fun, so I sucked back my tears and headed north.  As I was nearing Bellefountaine two deer ran out in front of me and I was a hair away from hitting one.  What a tramatic start to the day!!  I felt better once I got to BG in once piece.  We did the BG thing.  Those of you who went to BG, you know what I mean.  Overall, the day was okay.  It was good to see old friends and see how much things had changed since I was last there, which was probably about four years ago.  Cohen did great for Mom aside from waking up at 4 am!  That's been the new thing lately.  I'm not sure if it is teething, hunger from a growth spurt or what, but hopefully it passes soon!

I left BG at 8 Sunday morning and felt like a little kid at Christmas.  I could not wait to get back and see my baby : )  When I walked in the door, Cohen was soo funny.  He was standing in front of the couch and starting yelling and jumping up and down.  Then he came over and gave me some hugs.  When DJ got home later in the day, it was quite obvious that he had also been missed.  Cohen didn't leave his side for a good hour.  So cute.

So we all survived, which I knew we would and maybe next time will be a little bit easier... or maybe not :)  Looking forward to spending the day with family this Saturday.  We're going to Lynd's fruit farm to pick apples and get pumpkins!!

First Night Away..

For the last 3-4 months we have been planning on going back to BG for homecoming weekend.  DJ had talked with all of his old college buddies and they came up with the idea.  He told me about it and I didn't say no.  I knew the day would come that I would have to leave my baby overnight.  Being 4 months out from the actual day, I figured I would be ready by that point.  Well here I am, the night before the big "overnighter" and I think I'm coping pretty well.  Mawmaw and Pawpaw will being staying at the house with Cohen and I'm sure he will be absolutely fine.  Yes, I did almost tear up yesterday while writing up instructions for mom, but I held back the tears :)  My time with poo poo is so limited right now with working full-time.  By the time we get home during the week it is usually 5:45-6 and then I have to get dinner around, which makes for a very small window to spend time with my peanut.

At the same time, I am somewhat looking forward to our trip.  Rachel and John will be meeting us there, along with a lot of our other friends.  It will be fun to return to the town that brought DJ and I together and to reminisce about old times.  It's also been quite awhile since DJ and I have had an "adult night", so that will be good for us.

I plan to soak up every second of my baby tonight and tomorrow morning before I leave.  Wish me good luck!
